DAMAC Properties, a residential real estate developer in the United Emirates, has been in business since 2002. DAMAC owner, Hussain Sajwani founded the developer under Dubai’s decree allowing foreigners to own property on United Emirates land after discovering that it was mostly foreigners who were buying apartment property in the Peninsula. DAMAC was successful from the start. Hussain Sajwani quickly took advantage of then-undeveloped land and sold several units of his first apartment, which is 38 stories total, before its construction even began.
DAMAC Properties does everything from helping young couples to settle in the perfect home for them to keeping investors apprised on developing properties. They have assisted over 18,000 clients since 2002 and are now considered a lead real estate development country in the Emirates. DAMAC has also build many hotels with over 44,000 rooms.
Hussain Sajwani started his career in the food industry in the 1980’s and attracted major clients such as U.S. military cadets and construction employees with Betchel. The business received an award for outstanding service during Desert Storm in 1991. Hussain Sajwani felt that it was his first experience of seeing how far he could make it as a businessman and whether he had the ability to establish rapports with the right clients. However, he felt that profit margins in the food business alone were too low and expanded into the real estate business as a result. The Hussain Sajwani family still has ownership in the food service.
Hussain Sajwani teamed up with Donald Trump in 2013 to develop some Trump-related golf courses. The Trump International Golf Course opened in February 2013. The Trump World Golf Course, which was designed by Tiger Woods, is scheduled to open at the end of 2018. Hussain Sajwani has stated that he hopes to grow his relationship with the Trump Organization. However, Trump has since had to cut ties with the organization due to his current presidency.
