Energy Groups Line Up to Honor Kelcy Warren

Trade organizations across the oil and gas world have taken turns honoring Kelcy Warren. The founder of Energy Transfer, where he holds the post of Executive Chairman, has been recognized for innovative leadership and industry contributions by a range of groups, according to a company blog post from September 2024.

Who Gave the Awards

Hart Energy, a publisher that covers the oil and gas sector, is one of the organizations named. The Texas Oil & Gas Association, the state’s leading industry group, also honored him. So did SMU Cox’s Maguire Energy Institute, a university center focused on energy business, and D CEO Magazine, which covers Dallas business leaders.

Earlier, the Gas Processors Association presented Kelcy Warren with the Hanlon Award. The post also lists his place in the Ammys Hall of Fame.

Business Recognition Outside Energy

Broader business organizations have added their own honors. Warren is a member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame and the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans. Junior Achievement of Dallas named him a 2020 Laureate in the Dallas Business Hall of Fame.

His 2023 donation of $12 million to the University of Texas at Arlington set a school record. Appointments add another layer. Warren joined the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees in 2019, and Governor Greg Abbott named him to the University of Texas System Board of Regents through 2025.
